Vacuum flanges Using Guide

Flanges are a necessary part of any distribution channel that needs to transport materials with very high pressure. Flanges are used to connect two pipes together. It actually connects the same line but to provide extra support flanges are connected. Usually, flanges are connected with bolts or welding process. There are many different types of flanges available in the market. These categories are differentiated with various characteristics. For example, a reducing weld neck flange comes with two different sized attachment system where one size equals the standard pipe sizes and another has a smaller bore size for smaller pipes. These flanges are typically used to increase the pressure of the flow. And the flange is used to support the excessive pressure.

A vacuum flange is a type of flange that is used at the end of a type and is used to connect vacuum chambers. There are different types of vacuum flanges but more or less these flanges are similar to each other. There are different names for vacuum flanges of different manufacturers. There are different standards for vacuum flanges. So if you go to the market you might get confused. So it is better that you have a clear idea about some vacuum flanges.

Quick Flange: The Quick Flange or QF is manufactured by maintaining the ISO standard. It is also called NW or Klein Flange (KF). It has a specific design structure. It is made with a chamfered back which is attached with a round shaped clamp and an O ring mounted in a metal ring. The size is usually measured by the inner diameter of the flange. The size names usually contain the size of the flange. For example, DN16KF means a quick vacuum flange with a 16mm diameter. These flanges are called a quick flange because it comes with a quick release system.

ISO Flange: ISO flange is a very common type of flange that is similar to the quick flange and they share the almost same parameters. It is also similar in the connection system where the connecting ring and the centering ring are similar but the main difference is one of the sizes. The available size range can vary from 63 to 500 mm in tube diameter. So in short ISO flanges has a much bigger range than the quick flange.

Both of these flanges can be joined if you can clamp them with ISO-K side single claw, and then you need to bolt the holes on the side. In this way, you can use a universal system to use both of these flanges types.

Apart from these two types, there are some other types of vacuum flanges available in the market. You can use a wheeler flange to seal large wire sealing process. These are used on large vacuum chambers. The ASA flange is a type of flange that comes with an O ring and is used on vacuum and pressure conditions. It can be called the actual universal flange.

These are some common types of vacuum flanges.
